If you’re a proud Doodle parent, then you know all the things that make Doodles so special. If you’ve never met a Doodle, then you have no idea what you’re missing! We love our Doodles, and we want to share all the reasons why! Keep reading to learn a few of the cute Doodle quirks that have helped them find a place in our hearts.

Why We Love Doodles!

  • They’re natural clowns. Doodles don’t have a serious bone in their bodies, and they love to play. This equals a big ball of goofiness that is endlessly entertaining. And they’re certainly no stranger to using those big brown eyes to encourage you to get off the couch and play a fun game of fetch… or go for a nature walk. You can’t be in a bad mood when there is a Doodle around. Is life better with a Doodle? We think it’s so much better we put it on a t-shirt.

  • The way they tilt their heads. Everyone knows dogs are the best listeners. And Doodles are the best listeners of all! You can tell by the way they tilt their heads at you that they’re hanging onto every word. Combine that with their expressive faces, and their head tilt is guaranteed to melt your heart.

  • They’re like a living teddy bear. It’s not just those amazing curly coats that make Doodles so cuddle worthy. Doodles are affectionate dogs and they love attention. They love to be around their people and just want all the pets and lovins’. They won’t be opposed to a cuddle on the couch, and they’ll happily do you the favor of sleeping in your bed with you.

  • They’ve never met a stranger. No one would describe a Doodle as a guard dog. They’re outgoing and love to meet new people. They don’t tend to be bothered by new people in their space, and chances are, they’ll try to cover any new person in doggy kisses. This makes them a great family dog and is also why they’re frequently used as a service dog. They’re not shy around other animals either. Doodles want to be best friends with everyone, and that can even include your cat. Just watch out… because your cat might not return the sentiment!

  • They’re secret intellectuals. Doodles are so naturally goofy, you might think they’re sweet but ditzy. You’re in for a surprise! Doodles are incredibly smart. They have the retriever ability to quickly learn commands combined with the poodle’s problem solving skills. This makes training easy if you stick to a routine, but it also means they can get bored easily. Watch out for a bored Doodle! Your shoes, the furniture, anything chewable is fair game.

  • They’re power chewers. Doodles love to chew. Anything that will fit in their mouths can and will become a chew toy. Make sure you protect your chewable valuables by providing your Doodle with plenty of fun chew toys and natural chews to help satisfy their need to gnaw on something.

  • They’re snack thieves. Doodles have inherited the retriever's appetite, and retrievers can eat themselves silly. If there’s a tasty looking snack left unattended, a Doodle can’t help but take a chance and snag it. They’ll even use those beautiful eyes of theirs to try to convince you to hand over whatever it is you're eating.

  • They do a great impression of a rug. Doodles can be high energy and they love exercise, but they don’t mind a little R and R. Doodles love to lounge, and they look extra cute while they’re doing it. Embrace your Doodle’s lazy days and lounge with her in comfort in a soft, fleecy sweatshirt.

  • They think they’re part fish. Many Doodles love the water. They’ll take any chance to splash around! They love the waves at the beach, swimming in a pool, a day at the lake, even just splashing in random puddles is fun for water loving Doodles. If your local pool offers dog days, that could be a great activity for you and your Doodle.

  • They talk with their eyes. Doodles have expressive faces, and they know how to use them. They emote with their eyebrows, and they aren’t afraid to give you the stink eye if they disapprove of something.

  • They’re natural models. Doodles are camera ready the moment they wake up, and they’ll ham it up for a picture. You’ll have trouble getting a picture of your Doodle that isn’t amazing.

  • They need some regular sprucing up. And we’re okay with that. Doodles aren’t a ‘set it and forget it’ breed. They require regular grooming and pampering to make sure they look their very best. Thankfully, we’ve put together a handy guide for our Doodle owners to help them navigate the world of grooming!

  • They don’t respect privacy. Once a Doodle has decided you are their person, you will never be alone again. They’ll be your loyal companion on the couch, during walks, in the kitchen, and even in the bathroom. They love you and want to be with you as much as possible. The trick is to just learn to look down, and let your Doodle keep on doodling.

  • They’re not big barkers. There are exceptions to every rule of course, but most Doodles keep the noise level down. They’re naturally chill dogs, and with a Doodle around, you don’t have to worry about being That Neighbor.
